This week I learn how the Chinese and the Japanese where denied citizenship, excluded and discriminated against by white American in the United States. According to the textbook congress pass the Chinese Police Act which required Chinese immigrants to pay a monthly tax for working in California, by estimate the tax took up 60 to 80 percent of their pay. This act pushed the Chinese into a lesser group of disadvantages. The Chinese workers were hardworking people but they continue to take less pay than the White people. Chinese and Japanese could not obtain the higher positions that was offered to White people.
